Auchenharvie Rink Update

Auchenharvie Rink

Laying out the rink

Update 19th March:  the rink was laid yesterday afternoon.  Here are some pictures of the new rink – looks very bright and attractive.

February 19th:

Following a meeting with members of K:A Leisure management last night we have the following updates:

Auchenharvie rink is going to be ready about a month earlier than originally anticipated.  K:A Leisure expect the rink site to be handed over to them on 14th March.   The Magnum rink is to close on Sunday 3rd April  and Auchenharvie rink is to open on Wednesday 6th April.  This effectively means a 2 day closure with no loss of ice time to ourselves.

It was originally anticipated that there would have been a longer shut down and that there would have been the opportunity to have trial sessions at Auchenharvie.  This is not the case but there will be an opportunity to allow club members to have a viewing session at the rink prior to opening.   The duty manger is going to contact me with further details about the timing of this so if you are interested please let me know.

There is no date available yet for the official Opening Ceremony but it will possibly be towards the end of May.  Once the club is advised of the date we can get something organised  and it has been suggested that the club puts on a demonstration relay.  Again, once times and dates are confirmed everyone will be informed.

Along with the other ice sports speed skating has been allocated a day in September for an event.  We have been given Sunday 11th September to hold an event and we intend holding a competition on that date followed by “come and try sessions”.  The club hopes that everyone will become involved in this event as it is an ideal opportunity to showcase our sport and generate interest in it.

If you have any comments or suggestions then please get in touch.
