Short Track Initiative

Great news for Scottish skating: Sportscotland is to support a three year Scottish Short Track Development programme. The plan was prepared and presented by Archie Marshall (Sk8scotland Speed Director) and Stuart Horsepool (GB Performance Director – Short Track). The programme will focus on club development and a Scottish Development Squad that will be part of the pathway to GB Junior and Senior squads. It will be run by Archie starting April 2012 in partnership with Sportscotland who will bring high levels of expertise as well as financial support to the programme. The partnership with Sportscotland is a great opportunity for our sport, one that we all must work to maximise.

Utrecht Masters/Senior Competition

Two club members, Benny M and Lorna T travelled to Utrecht in the Netherlands to take part in this Masters/Senior Competition.  This is the first time that both of them have competed abroad and well done to Lorna for taking second place in the Ladies section.

Star Class Results

Club members Shannon S and Kathryn T travelled to Grenoble in France to compete in the Grenoble Star Class Competition on 13–15 January 2012.  For full protocol and video visit www.shorttrackonline.info.

With one Star Class event remaining both Shannon and Kathryn have qualified for the Junior Europa Cup Final. This event will take place in Brasov Romania on 16-18 March. Congratulations to both skaters on this great achievement.

Recent Competition Results

Junior British Open –  28th & 29th December 2011

Well done to all club members who competed in the Junior British Open on the 28th and 29th December in Nottingham.  Special congratulations to Kathryn T for achieving first place in Junior B Ladies category and to Shannon S for achieving second place in Junior A Ladies category.  For full details of result please visit www.shorttrackonline.info

Hasselt Star Class Competition – 25th, 26th & 27th November 2011

Well done to all club members who travelled to Hasselt in Belgium to compete in this 2nd Star Class competition of the season for Senior, Junior A and Junior B skaters.  Congratulations to Kathryn T who came third in the overall classification for Junior B Ladies.

British Championships

The British Championships were held at the Nottingham Ice Centre on 7–8 January 2012. The full protocol and the results can be found on the Results page.  Well done to all Ayrshire Flyers skaters who took part, especially Shannon  S who was first in Junior Ladies and Kathryn T who was second in the same category.
